Teen Suspect Surrenders in MGM/Caesars Cyberattacks
A teenager suspected in a series of high-profile cyberattacks targeting MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment has surrendered to Las Vegas authorities, according to law enforcement officials. The development marks a significant turn in a case that has drawn national attention to cybersecurity threats facing major hotel and casino operators.
The Case
A teenage suspect in the 2023 cyberattacks on MGM and Caesars, the biggest resort operators in Las Vegas, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, according to Metro police.
The juvenile’s name was not released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Four men between the ages of 20 and 23 were identified in November 2024 when federal prosecutors announced indictments in the case, which hadn’t formally been linked at the time to the cyberattacks on MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment.
Metro’s news release didn’t specify the connection, either. Instead, it cited “multiple Las Vegas casino properties” attacked between August 2023 and October 2023
